St. Patrick's Day Pot O' Gold Craft

Today we made a Pot O' Gold craft for St. Patrick's Day!

 Supplies Used:
White, gold and black card stock
dot markers in the colors of the rainbow
glue
hole punch

I cut the pot at 9 inches with my Cricut machine with the black card stock
I used a 1 inch hole punch for the gold coins

 The children glued their black pots to the white card stock then added the gold coins.

 Next they used the dot markers to create the rainbow any way they wished.

I think they turned out great! These will go into their binders.

St. Patrick's Day Paper Rainbow's

This morning we made paper Rainbow's, and boy did they light over this! Kids love rainbow's.

Supplies Used:

I cut a 6 1/2 inch cloud on my Cricut
Cut a 4 1/2 inch circle, added 2 hole punches
Cut 6- 1x11 inch rainbow strips
Also used white yarn to hang it up
Pencil

Yes, I made one too! :) Here we glued the circle with holes facing upward for yarn hanger.  I drew a line to mark where the glue should go, then the rainbow strips.

Here they are at work!

All done!

A Rainbow of My Own

We have been on rainbow's this past week, and it has been a lot of fun.

We read the book A Rainbow of My Own by: Don Freeman

It's about a little boy who uses his imagination to play with rainbows.

After reading the book we decided we needed a rainbow of our own! But how?

Here's how...

We filled a glass 3/4 of the way full with water

Put a small mirror inside the the glass of water at an angle. Make sure the mirror is submerged.

Then we placed it in a dark area and shined the flashlight into the mirror to reflect on the wall.

And here were the results below:

Move the flashlight around as needed to look for the rainbow to appear on the wall.

As we moved the flashlight around we started to see the rainbow colors appear.

They were very excited and started naming the colors of the rainbow they saw!

Letter Rr Week

Rainbows

We started off our Letter Rr week by reading

A Rainbow Of My Own by:Don Freeman

This book is about a little boy that uses his imagination to play with rainbows and wants one of his own.

Well, so did we! But how?

So we conducted two science experiments.

These were so much fun!

The next morning I made Rainbow pancakes for them!

They ate the entire batch!

For our craft which will go into their ABC Binders we made retro R's.

I found this idea HERE

 I printed an R template and cut strips of construction paper.

They glued each strip across the R to made it look like a Retro R.

When they were done gluing the strips, I cut the R out and they glued to black construction paper. 

Here are all of them.

They colored a rainbow tracer from HERE

 And practiced their pre-writing skills.

Another activity we made was Rainbow Crayons

Mouse Paint

We read Mouse Paint by:Ellen Stoll Walsh
This book is about three white mice who find jars of paint and discover the world of color.

For our craft to go along with the book we painted rocks to make Rainbow Mice!
I found the craft HERE.
 We used six flat round rocks to paint each one the colors of the rainbow.
Drew a mouse face and glued yarn to match for the tails. I didn't have every color so I used white yarn and  a marker to color it to match the mouse.

Then we didn't know what to do with our mice! So I painted a wooden board white that I found in my garage. Put a hanger on the back, and then I would glue the mice on them.

 Well, that was just to plain.
So I used my cricut to cut some letters that spell Rainbow Mice and added a rainbow to it.

Now the Rainbow Mice are hanging on the wall in their toy room.
