Spring Bird Unit

Today we began our "Bird Unit" by reading the book Beaky. Love this book and it kept the children very engaged.

An egg tumbled to the rain forest floor and out popped Beaky! He was uncertain of what kind of creature he was but very determined to find out.

After reading Beaky went over our lap book and then began the unit curriculum.

Learning Warm Colors. Color the bird house Red, Yellow, and Orange. 

 Learning Cool Colors. Color the bird house Blue, Purple, and Green.

Although we completed our Letter Bb, I consider this reinforcing this letter.

Count the leaves on the tree and circle the correct number in the box.

Spring Theme | Bird Unit

This week we have finally begun our Spring Unit. We are beginning with Birds.

 On the left and right of the lap book are pictures of things about birds.

 Here is a bird color book. Each page is to color the bird a certain color.

 Here the children had a cut and paste to separate birds from the bird houses.

Pre-writing, Help the birds find their homes. I laminated these so they could reuse.

I made them a "Our Backyard Birds" book that we read and will identify as we see them in our yard or neighborhood.

Book of Shamrock Colors

I put together a book of shamrock colors for the kids. Each page had a small shamrock in each corner, each a different color with it's name written at the top.

I cut 5 inch Shamrock's out with card stock using my Slice machine. This was pretty easy for them to do. 

This does help with re-enforcing colors, and fine motor skills. And I love making little books for them!
