Homemade Watercolor Painting

This has been on our To-Do-List for awhile!
Pocketful of Posies shared this recipe on her blog and I knew we were going to make it!

Recipe

   3 tablespoons Baking Soda
3 tablespoons Cornstarch
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
Liquid food coloring
Styrofoam egg carton
bowl
spoon
measuring spoons

Each child took a turn putting the ingredients in the bowl.

Adding the vinegar cause the mixture to fizzle and foam.
They were excited and amazed!

Next I stirred it all together and placed it in the cartoon.
 And then added food coloring.
And mixed it with a spoon.
They decided they couldn't wait to paint.
So we began right away.

Here's some of their art they created.

A Rainbow
 A Fleur de Lis

This child painted on his paper, held it up so the watercolors could run down the paper!
They really loved this!
Yay! Good day!
:)

I think I have everything on hand for this! Does it dry nicely and work another day? Have you tried that yet? Ours usually all become black because Jack likes to dip his brush in every color. :)

Great idea! So cute! The kids look fascinated with their projects!

I'm a new follower from the hop! Nice to meet you!

Hope you can find time to hop by and visit! I have a giveaway ending tonight for a Designer Top. It can be dressed up or down. I reviewed it in black and love it! (You can find it on my right side bar).
Have a great week!

I am glad the paint worked well for you. Thanks for linking to my post. :)

Amanda, it does dry nicely and can be saved for another day. All you have to do is use a wet paintbrush.

We just made these and haven't tried it a second time yet. I gave them several brushes of their own so they wouldn't mix colors. :)

How fun! I like how the colors mix and drip, and doing it in an egg carton helps contain so much mess!
