Letter Mm Week

Letter Mm is for ME!

Well now that's a good topic to discuss!
How important and special each one of these little guys are ! !

Nancy Carlson's book "I Like Me" is just the cutest book ever!
I have all boys here and they really enjoyed this book!
The book is about a little girl pig who describes how she likes being herself!

Pocketful of Posies created this  'All About Me' sheet.
I had each child write their name on theirs.
I wrote their age, measured their height, and I weighed each boy.
Then I asked them what was their favorite thing to play with..
Their favorite food... And what they wanted to be when they grew up...
Then they drew a picture of themselves.
Here's all of them together. This went into their binders.

M is for Moon
Goodnight Moon by: Margaret Wise Brown
This is a great bedtime book about a bunny saying goodnight to everything in his room.

After reading the story we did a few activities to go along with it.
I had a super hard time finding activities. I googled Goodnight moon and found one, but can not remember where it came from.

I had another sheet that taught the children about rhyming, like in the book.
Here they had to circle the M's in the moon.
We made mmm sounds, mmm cookies taste yummy!
Then thought of words that start with M.
Then they had to draw lines from all object's beginning with M to the M bag.
Carrots made it in the M bag but they are mmm, good for us! :)
Then we practiced more M sounds like in Goodnight Moon
And learned about pairs.
Then we went around the house to make pairs.

Then we learned Moon Phases.
Well a good start to it.

Monkeys

Umm.. I did not like this book!
Just singing the song to the children is better.
This book in particular only goes over one verse so, it's short!

5 Little Monkeys and an Alligator Craft

First the boys drew a tree on their construction paper.
With grass and water at the bottom.
They colored their monkeys and placed in the tree. And their alligator on the water.
Printables for craft and poem below are from  HERE
Poem:

5 Little Monkeys
5 little Monkeys
Sitting in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me!"
"You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be…
SNAP! that monkey right out of that tree!

4 little Monkeys
Sitting in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me!"
"You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be…
SNAP! that monkey right out of that tree!

3 little Monkeys
Sitting in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me!"
"You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be…
SNAP! that monkey right out of that tree!

2 little Monkeys
Sitting in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me!"
"You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be…
SNAP! that monkey right out of that tree!

1 little Monkeys
Sitting in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me!"
"You can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator
Quiet as can be…
SNAP! that monkey right out of that tree!

After we decided to make the M-Monkey craft from the same place. Well..I used the capital M instead of the lower case which just wasn't the same. Oh well!

I find they are cute anyway!
This will go into their binders.
