Grand Old Flag Craft

I love the 4th of July, not only do we celebrate America's birthday, we celebrate mine as well!
Monday I will be closed so we started working on our holiday crafts this week.
This one should have been posted yesterday, but our modem went out!

I was told this was a very fun craft by the kids!

         Supplies we Used:
  • blue pre-cut squares of construction paper
  • red cardstock
  • white tempera paint
  • star sponges
  • sponge paint brushes
  • glue
  • scissors
  • paint tray

They began here by gluing the blue square in the top left hand corner.

With the sponge paint brush they painted the white stripes for the flag.

Then added the white star with the star sponge on the blue square

This really was a fun patriotic craft!

You're a Grand Old Flag

by George M. Cohan
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

That is a great song. It is even better when your 4 year old cousin sings it and you save it for your ring tone on your cell! Thanks for sharing at Mom's Library!
