Rainbow In A Bowl | Science Experiment

During Rainbow Week here, we conducted two science experiments.
This is the second experiment we tried,
A Rainbow In A Bowl!

What's needed:
A shallow bowl
1 cup milk
Red, yellow, and blue food coloring
dish soap
In the shallow bowl pour in the milk
Next add three drops of each color about a 1/3 of the way from each other.
Squeeze one drop of dish soap in the center.
Immediately the colors spread to the edge.
Do not mix or jiggle the bowl during the process.
The dish soap doesn't mix with the milk.
The colors start to travel with the dish soap.
Here the red, yellow, and blue food coloring began to touch.
This takes a little while, but now you can see the colors mixing together and making new colors!
 And here it is...
 our Rainbow in a bowl!

The kids absolutely loved watching the colors blend to  make new colors.
This was a big WOW factor on their part!

I hope you enjoyed our little science project!
