Letter Qq Week

Q is for Quilt

The Very Sleepy Pig by: John Malam

This book is not about quilts at all. It's about a pig who could not get up in the mornings and join the rest of the farm animals for breakfast. The book however shows the pig sleeping with his patchwork quilt.
The book and the pages inside are beautifully embossed and the children loved touching the pages.

After reading the story the children made their own patchwork quilt.
I cut 144 squares the night before. Whew!
I found the idea here and the Q template here

Here are the children at work. They really enjoyed this craft.

And here are all of them together

This activity came from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
I read the story to the children and they had to find and circle the letter
Qq's in the story.
 Pre-writing practice

Letter Qq Hunt
I made this sheet myself.
The children used dot markers to find the letter Qq.

Find the smallest object in each box sheet.

Big Q  little q  Activity
I make this activity almost every week.
I draw the capital letter on a sheet of paper and write the lower case on multi label stickers for the children to place around the capital letter.

Letter Q Do a Dot sheet
This is one of their favorite things to do!

Letter Qq books
I make these books every week with the letter that we are on.
We read them together everyday. Inside they can color and we circle the words that begin with that letter.

And that was our week!

looks great!! I haven't had the guts to let my young kids use glue yet lol!!! But i have two three yr olds, and two under 2 yr olds.

Girl, they are glue crazy over here!
It took guts for me too. But I figured well, there is a table cloth, and the glue is washable and non toxic. So what the hey!
